My fourth book in the Georgia O'Keeffe series

If there is anything that I love about writing these mysteries, it’s going to the desert for research. The Bisti Badlands are one of the most haunting expanses of wilderness in northern New Mexico. Georgia O’Keefe called this sprawling geological formation the Black Place for the igneous rock formations that studded the land. She especially loved the bleached bones her friend Juan Nez found for her there. It is a bizarre land of dark enchantment. But on this visit Juan has vanished, and Georgia discovers a tantalizing clue to his disappearance—a red ribbon like the one he used to braid his hair. It is entwined in a rack of mule deer antlers. It beckons her to an even darker place in this peculiar terrain. There is an archeological dig nearby. These are sacred lands and Georgia senses they have been violated. She needs to find out what is going on.
