"While it's hard to think of a story set during the Great Depression at Christmastime as being a "good read", this one really is. There's a great historical perspective as to what everyday life was like for a formerly upper middle-class Hoosier family during the Depression as seen through the eyes of the 12 year old daughter. While this is a young adult novel, if you have an interest in life during the Depression or Indiana History, you would find this a really good read. There's also a recipe for molasses cookies in the back that has become one of my favorite cookie recipes ever!"
